A tragic event in North Carolina reminds us of the dangers at the beach. A 4 year old boy was swept to sea when a rogue wave pulled him away from his mother. Details can be read here: Body of 4 year old found. Harbin & Burnett urges parents to be extremely careful and vigilant during trips to the beach this summer. Every year we read about people drowning due to rip tides, swimming too far out, or alcohol use. Children playing in even shallow water can be knocked off balance and dragged under the waves. Make sure your children can swim or have them use a floatation device. Constantly watch children, especially younger ones. Make sure your children know what to do in case of a riptide. Swim only when lifeguards are present. Beachs are fun, popular vacation destinations. Make sure your trip doesn't end in tragedy.
