Are you superstitious? Do you feel uneasy around the number 13? Does a black cat walking across your path bring bad luck? If you spill salt, do you toss a pinch over your shoulder? If so, you aren't alone. A Gallup poll from several years ago revealed that over 25% of Americans considered themselves very or somewhat superstitious, while another 25% consider themselves not very superstitious. It has been estimated that there is nearly $1 billion dollars of lost business on Friday the 13th, due to people changing travel plans, vacations, etc. A study in Great Britain showed that flights are cheaper, often significantly, on Friday the 13th.
So if you can overcome your fear, there are bargains to be had.
But regardless of whether you suffer from superstitions or not, it is always a good idea to practice safe habits when traveling.
