Georgia Hands-Free Driving Law Goes Into Effect July 1st
Gerogia's Hands-Free law goes into effect July 1st. This law prohibits an electronic device from being held, or supported by the driver's body. This includes resting in a lap, held between the head and shoulder, etc. Troopers advise that the phone should be placed on the console or in another seat. Bluetooth calls are acceptable. Drivers may also use one headphone. If the driver is legally parked, hands are allowed, but this does not include drivers stopped for a traffic control device or heavy traffic.
Distracted driving is a major cause of automobile accidents and Harbin & Burnett hope that this law reduces accidents in our neighboring state.
