Halloween is a fun time for children. They get to dress up in costumes, ranging from princesses to pirates to ghosts to superheroes. And they get to go Trick or Treating, filling up bags with candy. But unfortuantely, Halloween is also a dangerous time for children. More than twice as many children are struck and killed by a car on Halloween than any other day of the year.
The National Safety Council has compiled a list of safety tips for parents: Halloween Safety.
Additionally, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued safety tips for candy: USFDA.
The is no reason children cannot enjoy Halloween. However, parents need to exercise supervision and caution to make sure nothing bad happens.
