Two Separate Large Truck Crashes Slow Traffic on I-85 on Friday Morning

On Friday morning, traffic in Spartanburg County was bought to a halt for several hours due to two accidents involving large trucks in the area.
Just before 5 a.m., on the northbound lanes of I-85 near mile marker 62, a truck driver for Cromer Food Services collided with a PT Cruiser that was abandoned and illegally parked on the roadway.
Minutes later, an unknown vehicle swerved to avoid debris in the road and crossed the path of an 18-wheeler. The large truck swerved to avoid hitting the other car and crashed into the delivery truck that was involved in the first accident.
The crash led to lane closures and slowed traffic for several miles. No injuries were reported in the crash and no charges have been filed although the accident remains under investigation, according to state troopers.
