AAA says Memorial Day weekend travel to be heaviest in a decade
Despite the highest gas prices seen since 2014, AAA predicts over 41.5 million people will travel more than 50 miles from their home over the Memorial Day weekend, with the vast majority driving. AAA warns drivers to expect delays and heavier congestion that usual. Particularly heavy will be major cities and warm weather destinations in the South and West. 41.5 million travelers
Harbin & Burnett urges motorists to drive cautiously and allow extra time to reach your destination. Congested, stop-and-go traffic, can lead to driver fatigue so plan on taking frequent breaks to stretch your legs and relax a moment. And it goes without saying that you should not drink and drive or text while driving. Anything that impairs your ability to drive will be magnified due to the heavier traffic.
