Effective January 1, 2019, the SC Workers' Compensation Commission has apporved a new maximum weekly compensation rate of $845.74. As provided by law, the maximum weekly compensation rate equals 66 2/3% of an individual’s average weekly wage, not to exceed the average weekly wage in this State for the preceding fiscal year as determined by the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce.
Regulations provide that a Claimant is entitled to reimbursement for mileage to and from medical attention, if said location is more than 5 miles away. Reimbusement is set equal to the reimbursement to state employees. Effective January 1, 2019, the new rate of reimbursement is 58 cents per mile, up from 54.5 cents per mile.
