Spring Forward . . .
The lawyers and staff of Harbin & Burnett would like to remind you to set your clocks forward one hour tonight. Daylight Savings Time (DST) is upon us. And although it is not quite as warm yet as most of us would like, it will soon be Spring. Currently, there has been legislative discussion and even action regarding DST in the South. Currently, states have the option to opt out of DST and remain on Standard Time. But Florida lawmakers have passed a bill to allow that state to remain on DST all year. Daylight Savings Time. And South Carolina is also considering a similar proposal. SC to opt out of DST?
Historically, people have enjoyed the extra hour in the summer for outdoor leisure activities. But the winter months could prove hazardous with children going to school in the dark. Daylight Savings Time has been an attempt to compromise between the two seasons. But DST seems to expand every few years now. Is DST still needed? Should Standard time be abolished for permanent DST?
Regardless of your thoughts, if you live in SC, you need to set your clocks forward one hour. At least for now.
