About every 3 hours, a person or vehicle is struck by a train. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have joined forces in an ad campaign, entitled "Stop. Trains Can't" designed to reduce train crossing injuries and fatalities. From 2012-2016 1,225 people dies while trying to cross railroad tracks. When I was a child, my neighbor was killed trying to cross railroad tracks. Simply put, a car can stop while a train cannot. And the car will always lose in a collision with a train. So slow down. look both ways and listen for a train whistle. It isn't worth risking your life to save a few minutes. For more information, click here.
