For many people, going home at the end of the day is something to look forward to. However, for some residents at Evergreen Place Apartments in Greenville it has become a place to stay away from. A group of tenants say they have fallen ill due to an ongoing mold and mildew problem at the complex.
One tenant says she has to take prescription medication after suffering from serious allergic reactions. She is currently residing with a friend because she simply cannot bear to be at her home and when she is she wears a surgical mask. One long-standing tenant says her granddaughter had to be taken to the emergency room after she suffered breathing problems brought on by the mold and mildew.
Ex-tenants believe that the complex is uninhabitable and that management is not going anything to fix the problem alleging that they simply spray the mold and then paint over it.
Some symptoms of exposure to mold and mildew include:
- itchy water eyes
- breathing difficulties
In serious cases an individual can suffer from asthma attacks and for those who have asthma it can cause attacks to happen more frequently.
We expect property owners to appropriately take care of issues found within apartment complexes, however, many times they fail to do so and thus endanger their tenants. If you or a loved one has been injured or fallen ill due to a negligent property owner, the victim may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and more.
Our attorneys believe that those who have behaved so carelessly and caused others harm should be held accountable for their actions. For a free evaluation of your premises liability claim, fill out the FREE CASE REVIEW form to your right your information will remain completely confidential.
