Motorcycles Are Dangerous
South Carolinas Department of Public Safety reviews the two most important factors in staying alive while riding a motorcycle.
- Wear a helmet
- Nearly 70 percent of motorcycle riders who died in 2010, the latest year for which data is available, were not wearing a helmet.
- Drive sober
- Nearly 40 percent of motorcycle riders involved in fatal accidents were intoxicated with a blood alcohol content level beyond the legal limit .08.
South Carolina motorcycle riders would be well advised to always wear their protective gear and ride only while they are sober.
