Yesterday, the power went out at Clemson University and the school closed for the day. In addition to buildings, several traffic lights were also out. When a traffic light is out, drivers should treat the intersection as if it was a four-way stop. In case you don't remember the proper way to handle a four-way stop, click here. Unfortunately, too many intersections resemble a demolition derby as the bravest (or most ignorant) plow ahead, often oblivious to other cars. So rememeber to obey the rules of the road, but also assume others will not. So exercise due caution when driving through an intersection without a working traffic light.
